He is currently serving his fourth term as Secretary General of the Alliance of South Asian American Labor—Michigan Chapter, where he has worked to strengthen the voices of working families, immigrant communities, and union members. He also currently serves as a Vice President of ASAAL National Board.

A former member of the American Postal Workers Union, Chowdhury understands firsthand the struggles facing union members, hourly employees, and working families. He is currently employed by Ford Motor Company, giving him direct experience with Michigan’s automotive industry and the importance of protecting good-paying jobs.

Chowdhury also serves as an Executive Board Member of the BADC Club and remains actively involved in numerous community, labor, charitable, and civic initiatives.

His campaign is built upon a commitment to honest leadership, economic opportunity, strong public services, and representation for every resident of Center Line, Hazel Park, Madison Heights, and Warren.

Campaign Goals and Objectives

Protect Workers and Strengthen Labor Rights

Chowdhury will stand with working people, organized labor, and families struggling with the rising cost of living. He will support collective bargaining rights, safe workplaces, fair wages, affordable benefits, and protections against wage theft and workplace discrimination.

Create and Preserve Good-Paying Michigan Jobs

As an automotive-industry employee and former union member, Chowdhury understands the importance of manufacturing to Michigan’s economy. He will work to protect existing jobs, attract responsible investment, expand apprenticeship programs, and prepare workers for careers in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, clean energy, and emerging technologies.

Support Small Businesses

Small businesses are the foundation of local communities. Chowdhury will advocate for easier access to grants, affordable financing, technical assistance, and state contracting opportunities—particularly for family-owned, minority-owned, immigrant-owned, and veteran-owned businesses.

Improve Public Education

Every child deserves access to a safe and well-funded public school. Chowdhury will support increased classroom resources, competitive compensation for teachers and support staff, expanded career and technical education, stronger special-education services, and affordable pathways to college or skilled-trades training.

Make Healthcare More Accessible and Affordable

Chowdhury will work to lower healthcare and prescription-drug costs, protect access to mental-health services, strengthen care for seniors and veterans, and ensure that families are not forced into financial hardship because of illness or disability.

Rebuild Roads and Neighborhood Infrastructure

Residents deserve reliable roads, safe bridges, functioning drainage systems, and clean drinking water. Chowdhury will fight for District 14 to receive its fair share of state infrastructure funding while demanding accountability from contractors and government agencies.

Promote Safe and Welcoming Communities

Chowdhury supports responsible public-safety investments, community-based policing, violence-prevention programs, emergency-response resources, and stronger relationships between residents and law-enforcement agencies. Public safety must be effective, accountable, and respectful of every community.

Protect Seniors and Veterans

Chowdhury will advocate for affordable housing, property-tax relief, accessible transportation, home-care services, and stronger protections against fraud and exploitation. He will also work to improve access to employment, healthcare, housing, and state services for Michigan veterans.

Expand Affordable Housing

Working families, seniors, and young adults should be able to afford a safe place to live. Chowdhury will support affordable-housing development, assistance for first-time homebuyers, protections for responsible tenants and homeowners, and programs that repair and preserve existing neighborhoods.

Defend Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity

Chowdhury believes Michigan must remain a state where every person is treated with dignity. He will oppose discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, gender, disability, age, or economic background and will work to ensure equal access to government services and economic opportunities.

Increase Government Accountability

Chowdhury will promote transparent decision-making, responsible use of taxpayer dollars, accessible constituent services, and regular community meetings. He believes an elected representative must remain available, responsive, and accountable to the people—not special interests.

Commitment to District 14

Minhaj Chowdhury is running to bring the experiences of workers, families, small-business owners, immigrants, seniors, veterans, and historically underrepresented residents directly to Lansing.

His mission is to unite the diverse communities of District 14 and deliver practical results that improve everyday life.

Workers deserve a voice. Families deserve opportunity. Every community deserves representation.
